You have unique insurance DNA; let our experienced staff at Hickok & Boardman Insurance Group work with you to customize your coverage to meet your needs
A homeowners’ policy covers your house and any attached structures such as decks, porches, and garages. As the cost to rebuild can be much different than the real estate or market value, your insurance agent at Hickok & Boardman can help you calculate the amount of insurance needed to rebuild at today’s costs.
Detached structures include garages, sheds, barns, fences, tennis courts, in-ground pools, and gazebos. The policy normally includes 10% of the Dwelling amount for detached structures. This may not be enough if you have a large garage or more than one of these structures. If so, this limit can be increased to best suit your needs.
Personal items such as furniture, electronics, clothing, dishes, linens, and garden equipment should be insured for replacement cost. Jewelry and other specific classes of contents may have coverage limitations and they will not be covered if you lose the item. Adding a rider or floater to your home policy is a great way to protect those valuables. It will cover that lost item and, in general, there is no deductible applied. A recent appraisal would be required.
A Valuable Items Policy is available to further protect your personal belongings.
Loss of Use
If you endure a covered loss such as a fire, this policy can pay additional expenses, up to the limit on your policy, to move into temporary housing while repairs are being made.
This coverage can pay for injuries and property damage that are a result of your actions or negligence.
Example: If your dog bites the neighbor’s child or you accidentally hit the neighbor’s car with a baseball while playing catch with your son, the Personal Liability policy will cover you.
Higher liability limits may be available through a Personal Umbrella Policy or Excess Liability Policy.
Medical Payments to Others
This coverage can pay for an emergency room visit or other medical bills that result from an incident on your property. If someone slips and falls on your porch, you may be held liable for their medical expenses.
